Barry E. DeLong, 86, formerly of Pottstown, passed away on Sunday morning June 19, 2011 in his residence at Phoebe Berks Village, Wernersville.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late John M. and Anna M. (Sailer) DeLong

He was the husband of Mary Eleanor "Ellie" (Enoch) Keehn DeLong. He was predeceased by his first wife: Daisy E. (Angstadt) DeLong on February 28, 1990.

He was employed for 33 years as the Production and Inventory Manager at the former Stanley G. Flagg, Co., Stowe retiring in 1986.

He was a 1942 Graduate of Oley Valley High School and attended Albright College, Biariz Army University in France and Lehigh University. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and a purple heart recipient.

He was a member of Community Evangelical Church, Sinking Spring. He was an active former member of Trinity Reformed Church, Pottstown where he served as a former Consistory President. He was a member of Stichter Lodge #254 F&AM, Pottstown and both the Reading Consistory and Reading Shrine. An accomplished Trumpet player, he played for various local bands and was also an instructor. He was also a past President of the Phoebe Berks Council and was a recognized Bridge player in various groups.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a Son: Bruce A. DeLong of Douglassville and his Daughters: Dorothy A. Herbst of Exeter Township; Joan E. Adams of Douglassville and Barbara A. Hanna of Boyertown. Also his Step Children: David L. Keehn of Oley; Brenda L. Myers of Hughesville R.D. and Mark J. Keehn of Newnan, GA. He is also survived by a Brother: Fredric A. DeLong of San Jose, CA. Also surviving are 8 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; 15 Step Grandchildren and 17 Step Great Grandchildren.

Services will be held in Phoebe Berks Chapel, 1 Reading Drive, Wernersville, on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 11:00 am. Interment in St. Paul's Cemetery, Amityville will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Phoebe Berks Health Care Center, 1 Reading Drive, Wernersville, Pa. 19565 or to Community Evangelical Church, 51 Green Valley Road, Sinking Spring, Pa. 19608.
