Barbara Ann Truckermiller, 72 of South Heidelberg Township, died June 10, 2008 at 5:54 p.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.
She was the wife of the late Henry Eugene Truckermiller who died August 4, 1989.
Born July 26, 1935 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late William T. and Anne E. (Schmehl) Wilk.
Barbara was a graduate of Reading High School, where she a member of the Reading High School Marching Band. She was also a member of the Salvation Army band and songsters before entering the Salvation Army School for training.
She and her husband served as Salvation Officers for 13 years. Upon return to Reading she was employed at CNA Insurance Company, Reading, for 25 years, retiring in 1994.
After retirement, Barbara returned to the Salvation Army where she served as a case worker for the UGI LISHP Program. In addition, she also volunteered for the Salvation Army in other capacities.
Barbara actively attended Community Evangelical Church, South Heidelberg Township.
Surviving is a daugher, Lois E. (Truckermiller), widow of Clinton C. Wentzel, of South Heidelberg Township.
There is one grandson, Stephen C. Wentzel also surviving.
In addition there are two sisters, Sarah E. (Wilk), wife of Andrew V. Jablonski and Betty M. (Wilk), wife of Richard E. Dautrich, all of Reading.
She was predeceased by six siblings: Charles Wilk, Robert Wilk, Walter Wilk, Frederick Wilk, Helen (Wilk) Truckermiller and Florence (Wilk) Kline.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Community Evangelical Church, South Heidelberg Twp. Viewings will be held Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale and Friday from 9-10 a.m. in the church. Entombment will be in Forest Hills Mausoleum.
