Barbara Strohmeyer, 83, Spring Township, died July 26 at 5:45 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient three days.
She was the wife of Charles Strohmeyer, a resident at Columbia Cottage, Spring Township.
Born in Newport, Maine, she was a daughter of the late Arthur W. and Gladys M. (Jackson) Bean.
Strohmeyer was employed for several years as an elementary school teacher in the Antietam School District and was later employed as a secretary by Gilbert Associates.
She was employed from 1990 to 1995 as a secretary by Electrodyne Research, Gladwyne, Montgomery County, and was last employed as a secretary by IPG Development Corp., Gladwyne, from 1995 until her retirement.
Strohmeyer was a 1938 graduate of Newport High School and a 1942 graduate of the University of Maine with a bachelor's degree in nutrition. She also received a certification in elementary education.
She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing.
Surviving are a son, James O. Hamilton III, Sudbury, Mass.; and two daughters, Joanne Hamilton, Watertown, Mass., and Achsa J. (Hamilton) Schuster, Freehold, N.J.
Other survivors include three grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Atonement Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Atonement Lutheran Church Columbarium. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
