Barbara Ann Rodrock, 83 of Wyomissing, formerly of Shillington, died April 16, 2013, at Mifflin Center.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Theodore O. and Agnes F. (Connolly) Rodrock.
She was a 1947 Graduate of Central Catholic High School.
Barbara worked for Penn State University, Berks Campus, as an administrative assistant for 25 years, retiring in 1991. During those years she primarily worked for Dr. Harold Perkins and was the secretary to the advisory board at the college. After her retirement from Penn State she worked in the library and the office of the La Salle Academy, Shillington.
She was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle, Shillington, where she was the secretary for the Sodality as well as the treasurer for the Women's Club. The Rodrock family was part of the founding families that established the parish in 1948.
Barbara also volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital and the Mifflin Community Library, where she sat on the board.
A devoted daughter, she lived with and cared for her mother until her mother's passing in 1987. She was an avid reader and gardener and enjoyed trips to England, Ireland and Wales. Barbara was a great influence on her nieces and nephews by sharing her love of museums, books and theatre. She loved her family and will be dearly missed.
Barbara is survived by her niece Mary Daly, wife of Thomas Bieber, their daughter Madeline Bieber and son Creighton Bieber, with whom Barbara resided in Wyomissing, as well as her other nieces and nephews: Daniel, husband of Denise Daly, West Chester; Barbara, wife of John Weidenhammer, Shillington; Judith, wife of Mark Cook, Granville, OH; Joseph Daly, Wyomissing and Margaret, wife of Clifford Nickerson, Los Angeles, CA; Joanne Rutkowski, Arlington, VA; Theodore, husband of Janis Rutkowski, Huntington Beach, CA; Suzanne Rutkowski, wife of Brian Van Buren, Vashon Island, WA; and her great nieces and nephews: Patrick Daly, Erin Daly, Daniel Daly Jr, Kara Bennethem, Shea Daly, Kate Kenderdine, John Weidenhammer, Jr, Chandler Cook, Emma Cook, Sophia Cook, Griffin Daly, Finnegan Daly, Sara Lamason, Emma Rutkowski, Andrew Rutkowski, Baker Van Buren. Also surviving are many great-great nieces and nephews; her brother-in-law, William Rutkowski, Arlington, VA and many wonderful friends.
She was predeceased by her sisters: Joan Rutkowski and Judith Daly, and her nephew Patrick J. Daly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10am in St. John Baptist de la Salle, Shillington. A visitation will be held Friday from 9 to 10am in the church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to La Salle Academy, 440 Holland St., Shillington, PA 19607. Edward J.
