Barbara Myer

Barbara (Hershey) Myer, 68, passed away September 6, 2017, in her West Lawn residence.

She was the wife of Robert Myer for over 48 years.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Ella Mae (Weaver) Hershey, Lancaster and the late Richard "Digger Dick" Hershey.

She was a graduate of Lampeter-Strasburg High School in 1966 and Bloomsburg University in 1971.

Barb was employed by McDonald's, Sinking Spring and more recently as a substitute teacher in the Wilson School District.

She and Bob enjoyed traveling and after his retirement in 2014 they drove across the United States to see all 50 states. They did several tours in Europe.

Barb was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church and previously was a member of Wyomissing Church of the Brethren. She was a trustee of the Sinking Spring Public Library and a member of the original Welcome Wagon Book Group for decades. She had served on the Reading Berks CROP Walk board of directors.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by two children: Jenna Werner, Wyomissing and Douglas, husband of Denise (Kipp) Myer, Sinking Spring. Five grandchildren: Lauren Myer, Nicole Werner, Haley Myer, Kirsten Werner, and Grant Myer; one brother, Robert Hershey, State College; and four sisters-in-law: Ruth Ann Harnish, Audrey Hollinger, Nancy Doom and Janet Westcott also survive her.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 11 a.m. at West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Ave, Reading, PA 19609. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
