Barbara A. Ianni, 85, of Sinking Spring, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, in the care of Spruce Manor of West Reading. She was the widow of Lewis C. Ianni, who passed away on August 23, 2018.
Born in Reading to the late George W. and Dora Mae (Weinhold) Lutz, Barbara was a woman unafraid to do hard work. She dedicated herself to raising three strong and independent women in a Catholic home. Known as "Momma" to many, her home was always open to those in need, including many animals who needed loving care.
Possessing a great practical knowledge, Barbara was a talented crafter whose independent business began with a stuffed rabbit. That rabbit turned into hundreds of orders and countless requests for Raggedy Ann dolls. She made stylish clothing for her daughters, and always made sure their Barbie dolls received matching outfits. Her seamstress work culminated in sewing her daughter a wedding dress from scratch as well as all the bridesmaids' dresses.
Left to treasure Barbara's memory are her daughters: Susan Kuhling, wife of Robert, of Felton, DE; Denise Ianni of Spring Township, and Lisa Ianni of Spring Township. She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Kuser of Leesport; her sister-in-law, Carol Tolland; and her nieces, nephews, and their families.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Gerald and Donald (survived by his wife, Shirley) Lutz.
Barbara's family would like to express gratitude for the dedicated care she received from the staff of Spruce Manor and Compassus Hospice Care.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be offered to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or to the Animal Rescue League 58 Kennel Rd, Birdsboro, PA 19508.
A prayer service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading PA 19611, with committal to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Parks, Reifton. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
