Barbara Ann Herbst

Barbara Ann Herbst, 78, formerly of Leesport, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016 in the Laurel Center, Hamburg , where she had resided since August, 2013. She was the widow of Richard R. Herbst who passed away October 1, 2001. Barbara was born in Mohrsville and was the daughter of the late Wilbur H. and Virginia P. (nee James) Madeira. Barbara was a graduate of Perry High School. She worked at Laurel Nursing Center for 22 years before retiring in 2001. She was a member of Zions Church, Windsor Castle where she was active in the Action Group, Prime Timers and Nursery. She was a member of the Shoemakersville Senior Citizens, the Shoemakersville Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and the Blue Mountain Chapter 443 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her children: a daughter, Sharon K , wife of Scott P. Wentzel, Sinking Spring and two sons, Kerry R. Herbst, husband of JoAnn Marini , New Ringgold and Christopher K. Herbst, Hamburg. She was a proud Grandmother to Sean R. Herbst, Jayme L. Herbst, Joshua T. Wentzel, Kathryn N. Wentzel, Madeline E. Etchberger, and Austin J. Bell and great Grandmother to Ella, Logan, Vivian, and Lydia. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Ronald H. Madeira and a granddaughter, Kellie M. Herbst. The family will receive friends and relatives from 10 to 11 am with funeral service to follow at Zions Church, 770 Zion Church Rd, Hamburg on Friday, November 11, 2016. In lieu of flowers, family would appreciate contributions in Barbara's memory to Laurel Center's Resident Council Fund.
