Barbara Ann (Eckenroth) Heckman, 79, died November 29, 2013 in her Lincoln Park residence.

She was married March 31, 1956 to Walter A. "Buddy" Heckman, who died June 10, 2003.

Born December 28, 1933 in her Mohnton residence, she was a daughter of the late Jay Russel Eckenroth and Evelyn (O'Meara) Eckenroth-Liss. She was also predeceased by her Step-Father, Anthony Liss.

She was a 1951 graduate of Mohnton High School and a 1955 graduate of West Chester College, with a BS in Physical Education.

Barbara was a teacher for over 55 years, starting with Cocalico Middle/High School and later with Wilson High School as a Physical Education and Health teacher.

She was also a co-owner of Manor Golf Course, Spring Township with her husband "Buddy" for 30 years before selling it to her son Michael in 1994.

Barbara was a devoted Wilson High School Athletics Fan.

She was an avid golfer at Manor Golf Course and the Reading Country Club.

Barbara is survived by two children: Susan J. (Heckman), wife of Richard D. Boyle of Arlington, VA and Michael S., husband of Cheryl L. (Traczuk) Heckman of Spring Township.

Other survivors include a step-son, Ronald, husband of Joyce Heckman of Spring Township.

There are also eight grandchildren: Catey Boyle, Shane Heckman, Jay Boyle, Amelia Boyle, Josh Heckman, Madeleine Boyle, Madison Heckman and Cameron Heckman and three step grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a sister, Nancy (Eckenroth) Bixler, who died in 2007.

Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, December 3rd at 6:00 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until time of services in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wilson Education Foundation, (Please memo – Barbara A. Heckman Scholarship Fund), to benefit a Wilson female student/athlete, 2601 Grandview Blvd., West Lawn, PA 19609.
