Barbara A. Dentzer, 74, of Reading, Pa, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at home with her loving family by her side.
Barbara was the widow of Ronald J., who passed away in 2011. At the time of his passing, they had shared 50 years of marriage.
Born in Lebanon, Pa., Barbara was the daughter of the late C. Richard and Ann B. (Merkel) Spahn. Barbara was a member of the graduating class of 1960 of Central Catholic High School, Reading, Pa.
Barbara was a devoted homemaker while her children were young. She then had a career in food service in the Reading School District, where she also served as a union representative for 9 years. She then worked for Fulton Bank as a teller, retiring in 2007.
Barbara enjoyed going to the casino and going out on Friday nights with her sisters-in-law. Traveling with her husband, as well as with her sister, is something she also loved. Most importantly, Barbara's life revolved around her family. She was a loving wife and a devoted mother. She cherished the role of being "Maw Maw" to her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her children: Michael J.; Robert J.; Christine M., wife of Scott E. Watts; and Lori A., wife of Brian P. Johnson, with whom Barbara resided. She is also survived by her sisters, MaryAnn Mello and Patricia A. Koller, and her brother, Thomas R. Spahn. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles R. Spahn. Barbara will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: Ashley, Eric, James, Brittany, Austin, Owen, and Alyson, as well as by her granddog Toby.
Barbara's family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Ruben Perez for his compassionate care.
