Audrey J. Schlegel

Audrey J. (Schaeffer) Schlegel, 83, of Wyomissing, passed away May 23, 2008 in her residence.

She was the widow of the late Henry J. Schlegel who died March 5, 2001.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter to the late William and Mae (Wummer) Schaeffer.

She was a 1941 graduate of Reading High School. She also graduated from Reading Bible Institute where she received a teaching certificate in June of 1967.

Audrey was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Reading, where she was heavily involved in prayer and service ministries.

She was a devoted supporter and teacher of Child Evangelism Fellowship, Reading.

Audrey is survived by two sons, John D., husband of Glenna Schlegel, Wyomissing; James P. Schlegel, at home; a daughter, Ruthann Backstrand, Holiday Hills, CO; seven grandchildren, Billette Kulhanek; Kenneth Backstrand; Marci Hunt; D. Marc Cram; Connie L. Cram; Kelly Schlegel; Daniel Schlegel; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, M. Louise Cram.

Services will be Saturday at 10:00 am in Calvary Baptist Church, 510 Park Avenue, Reading, with the Rev. Russell E. Weidel officiating. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. Friends may call Saturday 9:00 am until time of service in the church.
