Arthur J. Gantert, 84, formerly of Plum Creek Road, Bernville, died November 28, 2007 in Berkshire Center.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Theodore F. and Wilhelmina M. (Ruoff) Gantert.
He was a member of the first graduating class from Central Catholic High School in 1941.
Arthur was an automobile mechanic and part owner of Theodore Gantert and Son, Reading, for his entire career until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
Arthur was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Theatre.
He was a member of the Reading Radio Club as a ham radio operator W30LG; and was a member of the NRA and the Reading Hose Fire Co.
Arthur loved photography.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Genieve Gantert, Bethlehem. There are also 10 nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 5 siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Catharine of Siena Chapel, Mt. Penn. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call at the church Saturday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Paul's R.C.Church 151 North 9th Street Reading, PA 19601.
