Arthur F. Blessing

Arthur F. Blessing Sr., 90, of Shillington, passed away in Topton Lutheran Home on January 9, 2014.

He was the husband of Susie (Maggiaro) Blessing.

Born on May 10, 1923, in Reading, he was a son of the late Frederick and Elizabeth (Standinger) Blessing.

He worked as a damage freight inspector for Reading Railroad, for 45 years, retiring in June, 1988.

Arthur proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He received a purple heart while serving in the South Pacific for field artillery.

He was a life member of VFW Post #38, Reading.

In addition to his wife, Arthur is survived by his children: Arthur F. Blessing Jr., husband of Cynthia (Homa), Mohnton, and Patricia Ann, wife of Richard Geba, Allentown.

Other survivors include his brother, Gerald Blessing, RI, seven grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.

Arthur was predeceased by a son, Anthony T. Blessing, who died December 24, 2003, and his siblings, Carl V. Blessing and Bernice Weinman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margaret's RCC, 925 Centre Avenue, Reading, PA 19601. A viewing will be held Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. 739 Penn Ave. West Reading, PA 19611. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum.
