Arlene Mary (Krommes) Turner, 84, of Tilden Township, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 in Laurel Center, Tilden Township, in the loving presence of her family. She was born on April 14, 1933 in Albany Township and was the daughter of the late Pauline (Strausser) and Earl W. Krommes Sr. Her husband, Charles C. Turner, passed away on December 28, 2015. They were married on October 1, 1949 by Rev. Ernst F. Andrews. "Charlie" was the love of her life. She was devoted to him and her family. She spent her entire life taking care of her family. Even when her health issues worsened, she was constantly worrying and thinking of her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She especially enjoyed making Christmas cookies and candy with her family. She made sure that her family had a hot cooked meal everyday. She was a member of the Central Berks Fire Company #1, Centerport. Arlene worked various jobs in her lifetime. At her first job, she worked at Miller's 5 & 10 Store, Hamburg; it is there where she met the love of her life, Charlie. Her other jobs included working in the Burkey Knitting Mill; as an aide in the original Laurel Center; and as a helper at the Port Clinton Peanut Shop. She enjoyed taking care of people for her entire life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles and her daughter, Susan A. (Turner) Althouse in 1995. Arlene is survived by her children: Kathleen A. (Turner) Ketchledge, of Orwigsburg; Sharon K. (Turner) Reinsel, wife of Carl W. Reinsel, of Richmond Township; Mark C. Turner, of Tilden Township; grandchildren: Jennifer S. (Hiester) Roe, wife of Jeffery A. Roe,of Blandon; Zachary M. Althouse, of North Hollywood, CA; and great-grandson, Aidan J. Roe; sister, Anna M. Spease, of Hamburg; brothers: David E. Krommes, of Aransas Pass, Texas and Earl W. Krommes Jr., of Middleboro, MA. The family would like to thank the staff at the Laurel Center for the kind and loving care that was given to Arlene during her stay. Services are private and entrusted to Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., Hamburg. Interment will be in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Township.
