'Last Curtain Call for Dancers'

Arlene Marie Gift, 76, of Reading, died November 14, 2009 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center where she was a patient along with her sister at the same time.

Born September 29, 1933 in Reading, PA., she was a daughter of the late Gertrude M. (Weber) Gift.

She was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.

Arlene was a 1951 graduate of Reading High School where she was the youngest member of the Reading High School Band as an acrobatic majorette. She was taken out of Northeast Middle School to perform there with her sister Betty.

She was an owner and operator of Gift Sisters School of Dance, Reading for 45 years.

Arlene was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels Program for 5 years.

Surviving is her sister, Betty Gertrude Gift, with whom she resided.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3139 Kutztown Road, Hyde Park. A viewing will be held from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
