Arlene C. Bechtel

Arlene C. "Fritz" (Brown) Bechtel, 86, of Laureldale, died December 20, 2013 in Berks Heim.

She was the wife of Clifford J. Bechtel, whom she married March 8, 1947.

Born October 23, 1927 in Hyde Park, she was a daughter of the late Charles I. and Gertrude I. (Rissmiller) Brown.

Fritz was a 1946 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.

She was a life member of Rosedale United Church of Christ, Laureldale.

Fritz enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in sports and activities and enjoyed watching football and the Phillies.

She loved her garden and bird watching.

Also surviving are her two daughters: Sandra L. (Bechtel), wife of James Arnie Schneider and Lori S. (Bechtel), wife of John Hafer all of Muhlenberg Township.

Also surviving are four grandchildren: Kimberly K., wife of Michael Schafer; Zachary R. Schneider; Jordan M. Hafer and Shane M. Hafer and two great grandchildren, Kayla I. and Owen M. Schafer.

Fritz was predeceased by her sister, Grace E. (Brown) Schwartz and her brother, Raymond Snyder.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
