Arlene C. Burkert

Arlene C. Burkert, 95, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading. She was the wife of Melvin G. Burkert, who passed in 2012.

Born in Shoemakersville, she was the daughter of the late George and Lizzie (Becker) Reppert. Arlene was a homemaker who took pride in raising her family along with her husband. After her children were grown, she worked as a presser for March Sportswear, and cared for children at All His Children Daycare. She loved taking care of her grandchildren as well. In her spare time, she enjoyed taking in the view from her front porch, and watching NASCAR.

Arlene is survived by daughters: Linda, wife of James St. Clair, of Hamburg, and Brenda, wife of George I. Gerhart, of Hamburg; sons: Ronald Burkert, husband of Kathleen, of Kenhorst, and Glenn Burkert, husband of Valerie, of Hamburg. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Lynn Burkert, March 3, 1969, and sisters: Elda Ritter, Anna Filman, Thelma Bates, Dorothy Thomas, and Lorraine Gust.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 1st, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg, Pennsylvania 19526. There will be no procession to the funeral home. Family and guests are requested to arrive to the cemetery by 10:45 a.m.
