A pillar of faith in her community and wife of the late Marvin A. Breiner who died June 4, 1981, Arlene K. Breiner, 92, of Wyomissing, passed away September 9, 2013 at Consulate Health Care, North Strabane.
Arlene was born July 28, 1921 in Schuylkill County as the eldest daughter of the late Guy Schock and Bertha (Koch) Schoener.
Arlene was a 1939 graduate of Tamaqua High School and a 1943 graduate of Kutztown State University.
Arlene worked as a Librarian and served in the community of Reading for over 48 years. She worked as an educator for Boyertown High School, Southern Jr. High School, Reading High School and retired in June of 1986 from Albright College. After retirement she continued to work part time in the Albright College library until June of 2008.
Arlene was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Wyomissing, where she served and worshiped as a daughter of Christ.
Arlene is survived by her son, Don M., husband of Barbara Breiner, Christiana and her daughter, Rebecca, wife of Satish Jethani, Canonsburg. Also surviving are her five siblings: Betty, wife of Harold Breiner, Maytown; Mae, wife of the late Carl Breiner, Rising Sun, MD; Dwight, husband of Pauline Schoener, Tamaqua; Grace, wife of James Smyth, Carlisle; and Elbert, husband of Lynette Schoener, Camp Hill. Four grandchildren: Kimberly, wife of Tom Lundy; Kristen, wife of Jay Batdorf; Kent Breiner; and Mariah Jethani and five great-grandchildren: Meghan Lundy; David Lundy; Lance Batdorf; Cara Grigson and Cassidy Breiner also survive her.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Calvary United Methodist Church, 831 N. Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Tamaqua. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church at the above address or One Mission Society, c/o Smyth 801132 P.O.
