Anthony John Rowan

Anthony J. Rowan, 90, passed away on January 1, 2026, at Southeast Veteran Center. He was born on July 5, 1935, to the late Estelle Irene (Purcell) and James Anthony Rowan. Anthony is survived by his wife, Carol L. (Racilla) Rowan. They celebrated 61 years of marriage on October 17, 2025.

In addition to his wife, Anthony is survived by four children: Jennifer, wife of Denis Graeber, of Fennville, MI; Kerry, wife of Drew Fader, of Downingtown, PA; Timothy, husband of Krissy Klassen, of Tigard, OR; and Marisa Rowan of Medford, NJ; and six grandchildren.

He was predeceased by brothers, James, Harold, and William.

Anthony graduated from Pottsville High in 1953 and attended Penn State University at State College. He served on active duty during the late 1950's aboard the destroyer USS Strickland DER-333 on DEW submarine off the east coast. Later he was transferred to Atlantic Fleet Headquarters, Norfolk, VA, assigned to the Anti-Submarine Warfare Division. On release from active duty, he continued to serve in the Navy Reserves until 1963.

Anthony was employed by the Chester-Jenson Company, Inc. of Chester, PA, for 40 years selling heat exchange processing equipment to the dairy, meat, poultry, beverage, and baking industries. He relocated to Mechanicsburg, PA, as a division manager responsible for equipment sales and operations in eight states.

While living in Mechanicsburg, he was a member of St. Joseph and ElizabethAnn Seton Churches. Anthony served as a Eucharistic Minister for 25 years and was involved with the Cursillo Movement Harrisburg Diocese.

After retiring and moving to Elverson in July 2020, he was a member of the Church of Saint Benedict in Mohnton.

At age 14 Anthony began a love affair with the automobile. Later, a dedicated audiophile, he was always in search of the absolute sound. He was a photographer and a Canon 35mm camera was always close at hand for family pictures.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Benedict, 2020 Chestnut Hill Rd, Mohnton, PA 19540. The visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Committal services with military honors will be held on Tuesday, January 20, at 1:00 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd, Annville, PA 17003.
