Anthony J. Coda, age 89, of Mifflin Park, passed away December 16, 2013 in the Berkshire Center.
He was the husband of Joan A. (Scripko) Coda, whom he married on September 28, 1963.
Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Luigi and Rose (Rodino) Coda.
He was a 1942 graduate of Reading High School. He also graduated from the Academy of Advanced Traffic, Philadelphia, class of 1958.
Anthony worked in Traffic and Transportation at Berkshire Knitting Mills, Wyomissing, PA, and for several motor carriers, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Holy Rosary R.C. Church, Reading. He was also a member of the Men's Retreat Group, St. Francis Retreat House, Easton, PA.
Anthony was a U.S. Marine veteran, serving as a T-Sgt during WWII in the Atlantic-Pacific Campaign. He was also a Marine veteran in the Korean War, serving with the local "COB" reserves.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Gregg Post 12, Reading; Central YMCA, Reading; Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 10, Reading; and Neversink Fire Company, Reading.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Ann Marie Coda, Harleysville. Also surviving are his nephew, Gregory Lebo, husband of Patricia, and their children: Amanda Lebo and Christopher Lebo. His brother-in-law, John Lebo also survives him.
Anthony was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Coda and his sister, Virginia Lebo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in Gethsemane Cemetery Chapel, 3139 Kutztown Rd., Laureldale. Entombment will be in the adjoining Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Rosary R.C. Church, 237 Franklin St., Reading, PA 19601. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
