Anthony J. Carabello

Anthony J. Carabello, 82, passed away in his residence on April 26, 2015.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Frank and Frances (Giordano) Carabello, and husband of Estella M. (DeAngelo) Carabello whom he married on August 31, 1957.

Anthony graduated from Central Catholic High School. He was a graduate of Kutztown University, and went on to receive his Master's in Education from Temple University.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Anthony taught mathematics at Northeast Junior and Reading Senior High Schools. He served one term as Reading City Councilman, and five terms as Berks County Commissioner.

In addition to his wife he is survived by three children Michael A., husband of Anna L.Carabello, West Hartford, CT; Andrea M. Carabello, Pittsburgh, PA; and Julie F., husband of Michael J. Baum, Ross, CA. He is also survived by his brothers Rev. Francis J. Carabello, Gretna, Louisiana; Natal J. Carabello, Lemoyne, PA; Paul N.Carabello, Reading; and sister Betty Jean Cronan, Shorewood, WI. Six grandchildren also survive him.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 3, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Monday from 8:30 a.m to 9:15 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 4 at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 237 Franklin St, Reading, PA 19602. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Anthony J.
