Anthony John Calvaresi

Anthony John "Buster" Calvaresi, 79, of Reading, died September 1 at 4:10 a.m. in the Holy Rosary Rectory, where he had been since April 2004.

He was the husband of LaVerne M. (Showers) Calvaresi.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late John and Marian (Langone) Calvaresi.

Calvaresi was an Iron Worker/Welder for Local #420, Reading, for 36 years, last working in January 1988.

He was a member of Holy Rosary RCC, Reading, where he served as chairman for the church picnic for a number of years. Calvaresi was also a member of the Holy Name Society; Sons of Italy;and Veterans of Foreign Wars Lt. General H. Liggett Post 38, Reading.

Calvaresi was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy.

Calvaresi is also survived by two sons, Anthony J. Calvaresi, Jr. and David V. Calvaresi both of Philadelphia.

Other survivors include a brother, Daniel M. Calvaresi,Reading, and three sisters, Pierina M. Calvaresi, Reading, Josephine M. (Calvaresi) Morabito, Norristown, and Elvira L. (Calvaresi)Russo, Cedar Grove, NJ.

There are also 4 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Rosary RCC, Reading, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Friends may call on Tuesday 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Kuhn Funeral Home,West Reading, and also from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, also in the Kuhn Funeral Home. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Holy Rosary RCC, 237 Franklin St., Reading, PA 19602. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
