Annetta Louise Shaner

Annetta "Nancy" Louise Shaner, 89, passed away at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville on July 23, 2017 where she had been a resident since 2013.

Born on June 4, 1928 in Shamokin, she was a daughter of the late Malachi and Gertrude (Glessner) Delaney.

She was a 1947 graduate of Bulter Township High School and resided in Lavelle for a good part of her life.

Nancy was a member of the former St. Mauritius Roman Catholic Church and had been an active member of the Catholic Daughters.

Mrs. Shaner and her husband Charles lived in Wyomissing for over 20 years. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church and belonged to the Sacred Heart Seniors. She was a member and volunteer of the Reading Public Museum, West Lawn Senior Citizens Club and the Van Reed Auxiliary at the Reading Hospital.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles in 2001 and a step-son, William Shaner in 2005.

She is survived by her two step-daughters: Kathleen, wife of Charles Sherman, Gordon, and Mary McCaffrey, Philadelphia; one step-daughter-in-law, Patricia Shaner, Orwigsburg; and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 701 Franklin St. West Reading. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Frackville.
