Anne M. Thomas, 94, formerly of Philadelphia, died April 18, 2016 at the Highlands of Wyomissing

Her husband, Robert F. "Tommy" Thomas Sr. died February 28, 1999.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the only daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Kamnitz) Kuhn.

Anne was a 1939 graduate of Hallahan Girls High School in Philadelphia. As a high school student, she played piano, organ and violin, and served as church organist at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Philadelphia. She attended nursing school at Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1942.

After graduation, she was commissioned as an Ensign in the US Navy, and served as a nurse in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during World War II. She was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant (j.g.) after the war. She worked as a pediatric nurse until 1950. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at Temple University, then began employment as a school nurse in the Philadelphia School District, working at Overbrook High School and George Washington High School, retiring in 1978. She had a 54 year love affair with her beloved husband "Tommy".

She is survived by her son Robert F. Jr., husband of Eline Luning Prak, Malvern ,PA, and two grandchildren, Robert F. Thomas III of Shillington, and Matthew, husband of Emily Engelhardt, of Pittsburgh,PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 22, at 12 p.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 2810 St Albans Dr, Reading, PA 19608. A visitation will be held from 11:15 to 12 p.m. in the church. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family. Edward J.
