Anna May Shappell

Anna May (Rothermel) Shappell, 74, of Maidencreek Township, died July 19, 2013 in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.

She was the wife of SGM Kenneth P. Shappell who died June 13, 1978.

Born April 26, 1939 in Blandon, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Hartline and Annie M. (Angstadt) Rothermel.

Anna was a member of Maidencreek Church, Maidencreek Township.

Surviving are her four children: Kenneth P., Jr., husband of Cathy A. Shappell of Fleetwood; Mike D., husband of Tammy S. Shappell of Henderson, KY; Steve, husband of Ninette M. Shappell of Lakewood, CO and Robin Shappell of Leesport.

There are also six grandchildren surviving: Elizabeth Wood, Eric Shappell, Kenneth P. Shappell, III, Tyler Shappell, Evan Shappell and Malia Shappell and two great grandchildren: Parker and Anna Shappell.

In addition, she is survived by her brother, Earl R., husband of Ethel Rothermel of Maidencreek Township.

Anna was predeceased by six brothers, Harry, Ralph, Arthur J., Sr., Stewart, Harold and Forrest.

Services will be Saturday July 27th at 11 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Frieden's Cemetery, Oley.
