Anna Mae Owens, Lincoln Park, passed away early Monday morning in her home with family by her side. She was born on Dec. 6, 1928, in Pittston to the late Benjamin R. Jones and Leda Mae Williams Jones.

She was a graduate of Linden Hall and Beaver College, and worked for Hercules Power Co. and, later, Reading China and Glass.

Anna Mae was the loving wife of Roy Owens, who passed away in 1990.

Roy and Anna Mae were married Sept. 13, 1952, and enjoyed traveling together and spending time with their family, friends and neighbors.

Anna Mae was an active member of Lincoln Park United Methodist Church, a dedicated volunteer for the literacy council and Manor Nursing Home and, above all, a devoted mother, grandmother and friend.

The couple has three sons and a daughter: David R. and wife, Brenda, William E. and wife Kelly, Robert B. and companion, Lois Gehrer, all of Reading; and Carol Ford and husband, Ronnie, of Muskogee, Okla.

They have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Anna Mae is also survived by her brother Benjamin R. Jones, Camp Hill, her sister Catherine Pope, West Pittston, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother Griff Jones.

Anna Mae will be buried in Wyoming Cemetery in Wyoming, Luzerne County, on Thursday with a graveside service at noon. A memorial service will be held at Lincoln Park United Methodist Church at 6 p.m. on Friday. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Anna Mae or comfort her family are asked to make donations in her name to Lincoln Park United Methodist Church, corner of Jefferson Blvd. and Cambridge Ave., Reading, Pa. 19609.
