Anna M. Lewandowski: A Beacon of Resilience, Faith, and Joy
Anna's journey through 105 remarkable years was a testament to her unwavering spirit—a life that taught us the power of showing up every day, no matter what. With profound love and gratitude, we remember a woman who never wavered, whose determination was a reminder that true beauty lies in persistence, and whose words still echo: "It's a great world if you don't weaken and you better not weaken."
Born in Reading to Bartlomiej and Agnes (Gniotczynski) Magrowski, Anna's early life was humble, yet filled with the promise of a future built on hard work and integrity. Her years as a factory worker in Reading's manufacturing industries forged in her a steadfast work ethic and an enduring resilience. But it was in her role as a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a guiding light for her extended family where Anna truly shined.
For forty cherished years, she was the loving wife of Walter S. Lewandowski. Even after his passing in 1979, Anna embraced life on her own terms—traveling, adapting, and savoring every new day with a bold independence that many could only aspire to. Her life was a vivid tapestry of experiences: from the simple joy of a sweet donut or candy to the profound solace she found in her deep and unshakeable faith in the Virgin Mary. Anna's spiritual conviction was her anchor; in times of trouble, her quiet stillness and steadfast belief shone as an example for us all.
Her consistency in showing up for life, no matter the hardship, became a beacon of hope and strength. In every challenge, she found an opportunity to rise above and celebrate the art of living without regrets. Whether she was sharing cherished stories in her cozy kitchen or embarking on new adventures, Anna did so with a conviction that life is precious and must be embraced fully.
Anna leaves behind a legacy that spans generations. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Anna M. (wife of the late Stanley Bonk), daughter-in-law Yuko (wife of the late Andrew Lewandowski), her grandchildren—Christian, Andrew (Kim), Stephanie, Jennifer, Kathryn (John), Maria (Gary), and Patricia (Keith)—as well as her brother, Frank (Sophie), along with nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her, each of us carrying forward the lessons of endurance, love, and an unapologetic zest for life.
Anna was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Walter, her son Andrew Lewandowski, brothers Alex and Chester, and sisters Mary, Lottie, Florence, and Christine—each a cherished part of the rich tapestry of her family history.
As we bid farewell to this extraordinary centenarian, we celebrate not just the length of her days but the depth of her impact. Anna's legacy reminds us that a life well-lived is measured not in years alone, but in love shared, wisdom imparted, and hearts touched.
May we all find the strength to live our lives with the same relentless spirit and boundless love that Nanny so beautifully embodied.
