Anna Marie Essig

Anna M. Essig of Laureldale, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2013 with her loving family by her side.

She was the widow of her first true love, Erwin Essig who died November 18th, 1980.

Born in Reading on July 10, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Barbara (Bachert ) Flock.

She was employed at Berkshire Knitting Mills and later at Electric Coil Service, from which she retired.

Anna enjoyed traveling, ceramics, gardening and trips to the family farm in Muncy, PA.

She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.

Anna is survived by her son Curt D., husband of Joan L Essig and her only grandchild Jonathan D. Essig, who was her pride and joy.

Other survivors include her two sisters; Elizabeth Flock of Leesport and Sara Ortner of Palmer Alaska; four nieces and four nephews, along with her extended family Donald, his wife Jean, and their son Christopher Hoster.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Berks Visiting Nurses Hospice for there exceptional care of Anna in her final days.

Services will be Friday at 11 at Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton, Exeter Township.
