Anna May Bailey

Anna May (Johnson) Bailey, 88, of Shillington, died peacefully January 31, 2009 in Berks Heim, Bern Township.

She was the wife of the late Elmer Alfred Bailey.

Born December 3, 1920 in Reading, she was a daughter of the late John and Stina (Ingeborg) Johnson.

Anna May was a 1938 graduate of Fleetwood High School. After high school she was employed for many years by Bachman's Bakery as a pretzel packer and unionshop steward, retiring in the 1970's.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary with Mount Pleasant Fire Company and a member of the Ladies Auxillary with Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

She is survived by two sons, Raymond E. husband of Margaret Bailey, Reading; and John R. husband of Santra Bailey, Sinking Spring; and a daughter Nancy A. wife of Fred Oxenreider, Peach Bottom, PA.

She is also survived by a brother John E. Johnson of New York City.

There are six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Anna May was predeceased by a brother, Claus Johnson, and a sister, Helen Johnson.

Memorial services will be private at the convenience of the family. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
