Ann (LaManna) Twardowski, age 73, of Birchrunville, PA, went home to God on June 11, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Thomas M. She also was a wonderful grandmother to her eight grandchildren: Nicholas, husband of Mary Ann Everett, New York City, NY; Thomas, husband of Julia Everett, Detroit, MI; Elizabeth Everett, Katherine Everett, Joseph Everett, Michael Everett, Maria Everett, all of South Bend, IN; and Thomas McBeth, Glenmoore, PA. She is also survived by her five siblings, Jane LaManna, OSF, Jerome P. LaManna, Eugene LaManna, John LaManna and Suzanne Kase.

Ann was born and raised in Reading, PA. She was a daughter of the late Jerome A. and Emma (Ganter) LaManna . Ann was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1958, obtained a degree in nursing from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1961, and was currently pursuing her BSN at Alvernia University. Her diverse nursing career included working in home care, at a blood bank and in hospital care, culminating in the last twenty years as an ER nurse at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, where she was known and honored for her outstanding competence and compassion as a nurse. Ann was also active in her parish church of St. Basil the Great in Kimberton, where she served as director of the Parish Nurse program, chairperson for the annual blood drive, helped with parish festivals and fundraisers, and also served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.

Ann also regularly prepared meals at St. Mary's Shelter in Phoenixville, and after her retirement, volunteered as a nurse at The Clinic, which serves the poor and underserved, in Phoenixville, PA. She was a lifelong avid reader, and routinely tackled the NYT crossword puzzle with a pen! Ann also loved gardening and other outdoor pursuits, enjoyed amateur photography and relished spending time with her family and friends.
