Ann Elyse Madden

Ann Elyse Madden, loving daughter of Gail and Joseph Madden, slipped peacefully and heroically into God's arms on January 15, 2008 on Portuguese Beach in California. Annie is known to all as free spirited, giving, loving, and a true friend to all she met. Annie died a hero trying to help save her fiance and loving pets. Annie loved the ocean, dragonflies, and her pets, Sadie, Moose, Puddles, and Chase.

Her spirit will live forever in soft breezes, gentle tides of the seas, and the quiet hum of a dragonfly.

Our grief is forever but she will always remain in our hearts.

Along with her parents, she is survived by her loving brother SRA Jeffrey Madden USAF, 20, Fairchild AFB, Spokane, Washington, her devoted sister Holly Madden, 17, a senior at Wilson HS, and her grandmother Ann Martz, Wyomissing.

Annie resided with her fiance, the love of her life, Petty Officer Grant Korte USCG, in Petaluma, California. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial viewing will be held Wednesday at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, Whitfield, from 5 to 7 PM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 7 PM. Contributions can be made to the Humane Society, 1801 North 11th Street, Reading, PA, 19604, or Mary's Shelter of Reading, 325 South 12th Street, Reading, PA 19602. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com
