Ann B. Kraras

Ann B. Kraras, 77, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer on November 9, 2024, at her home in Wyomissing, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Chaknos) Baxewanis.

Ann was a graduate of Governor Mifflin High School and East Stroudsburg University. She received her master's degree from Kutztown University. Ann was employed by Governor Mifflin School District as a teacher prior to raising her family. Throughout her married life of 56 years, Ann was co-owner of White Star Tours, Shillington, with her husband, Chris. Most importantly, she was a wife, mother and grandmother to her family, and a faithful servant to her church and community.

Ann was a devoted member of her church, Saints Constantine and Helen, Reading. She sang in the choir for 70 years and served as a choir director for the better part of 50 years. She also served her church as a Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, and the president of Philoptochos Women's Ministry. Ann served her spiritual community by participating in numerous Bible study groups over the years. She was an inspiration to all of us with her faith, even maintaining her strong faith through her last moments.

Ann served as president of the Junior League of Reading and president of the Wilson Football Mothers' Club. Alongside her husband, Chris, she co-chaired the United Way campaign in 2008. Ann was an avid golfer and played as a member of the Berkshire Country Club's Women's 18 Holer's Golf Group for many years. She was also a fervent fan of her children's and grandchildren's activities, attending nearly every event that she could. Her greatest joy was being at the family beach house with all of her family together.

In addition to her husband, Chris G. Kraras, Ann is survived by her son, Dean (Jen) Kraras and her daughter, Marisa (Scott) Hunsicker. Ann is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Mackenzie, Peyton, Christopher and Delaney Kraras; and Tommy, Christo and Gram Hunsicker. A sister, Joyce (Stam) Zervanos, Wyomissing, also survives her, along with a large extended and devoted family.
