On January 17, 2018, at the age of 91, the Lord called Ann B. Bassler home. Ann was formerly of West Lawn, and passed away, at Coliseum Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center, Hampton, VA.
Her loving husband of 42 years, Donald K. Bassler, passed away on April 23, 1990.
Born in Reading, she was the youngest of 4 daughters of Polish immigrants, the late Joseph and Stella (Wiska) Cichowski, who came to this country thru Ellis Island.
Ann loved family. She gave with all her heart. She laughed. She taught her children to be strong.
She is survived by her three children, Ann Marie Burlarley; Bobbi A., wife of Richard Lentz, all of Hampton, VA; and Richard K., husband of Maria Bassler, of Downingtown. She is survived by five grandchildren, Sean Burlarley, son of Ann Marie; Jason Baker and Jason Lentz, sons of Bobbi and Richard; Carina Quevido and Areanna Bassler, daughters of Richard and Maria. She was predeceased by one grandchild, Bree Burlarley, daughter of Ann Marie. Six great grandchildren with one expecting also survive her.
She was employed by Wilson High School for 25 years, retiring in 1988. In retirement, she enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, traveling and spending time with family.
Ann was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia Shaeffer and Helen Malinowski and her loving late-in-life partner of 20 years, Howard Brubaker.
Family and friends are invited to graveside services at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring, April 7 at 10:00 AM. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 237 Court St., Reading, PA 19601. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
