Angelo J. Lachina

Angelo J. Lachina, 72, of Reading, passed away June 12, 2016, at Hershey Medical Center.

He was the husband of Deborah P. (Patterson) Lachina. They were married on April 2, 1977.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Giuseppe and Isabella (Valerio) Lachina.

He was a 1963 graduate of Reading High School.

Angelo was a U.S. Army reserves veteran.

He retired as the head custodian for the Reading School District at Northwest Elementary School.

Angelo was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

He played on the Holy Rosary CYO basketball team where he scored the school record, 50 points in one game.

Angelo was a diehard Celtics and Yankee fan.

He was a life-member of the Jackson Democratic Club, Lodge member of the Victor Emmanuel Society II, member of the Knights of Columbus, Malamente Brotherhood and was elected 14th Ward Constable and 14th Ward Democrat Committeeman.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Lisa Marie Smith, West Reading and Antoinette Isabella Lachina, Laureldale; two sisters: Connie Lachina, Reading and Nancy Kerr, Muhlenberg Township and two grandchildren: Anthony Filippini and Aislin Reinert.

He was predeceased by six siblings: Anne Neider, Augusta Corry, Amelia Amadio, Lucy Faust, John Lachina and Ignatius Lachina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Gethsemane Chapel of Resurrection. Burial will be in adjoining cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Edward J.
