Andrew W. Dillaway

Andrew W. Dillaway, 91, of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

He was the husband of the deceased Lou (Keene) Dillaway.

Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on December 22, 1924, he was the son of Arthur Williston Dillaway and Lillian (Hall) Dillaway. His brother Langdon Dillaway, of West Medford, Massachusetts and sister Jean (Dillaway) Sease, of Atlanta, Georgia preceded him in death.

Upon graduation from Medford High School, Medford, Massachusetts, Andy volunteered to join the 10th Mountain Infantry Division at Camp Hale, Colorado and was assigned to the 86th Regiment and 110th Signal Company. The Division was committed to action in Italy during WWII, and Andy was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal for his efforts.

He was a member of the VFW Post in Medford, Massachusetts.

After the war, Andy graduated from Boston University in 1950 with a degree in business and was employed at Keystone Custodian Funds of Boston as a statistician. He held further positions over the years, both as a national sales representative for Ludlow Corporation in Needham, Massachusetts and PM Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He enjoyed retirement in Hendersonville, North Carolina, Charlottesville, Virginia and Wyomissing, Pennsylvania with his wife, Lou. Lou and Andy were married on April 21, 1956 at Grace Presbyterian Church, Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. They honeymooned in Williamsburg, Virginia and celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Andy will be remembered for many things, including his devotion to his family, especially his grandchildren, love of reading anything related to global and financial interests, and enjoyment of daily walks and exercise. Not a day went by when he wasn't found reading the Wall Street Journal. One of his greatest joys was making people laugh and keeping up with his four grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters – Andrea Dillaway-Huber and son-in-law Jim Huber of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, and Leslie (Dillaway) Anderson and son-in-law Dale Anderson, of Charlottesville, Virginia – and four grandchildren, Katie and Steve Huber and Kelly and Ben Anderson.

Andy's friendly personality, caring nature and love of his family will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016, 11 am at Phoebe Berks Chapel in Wernersville with a luncheon immediately following. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN or donations at StJude.org. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolence may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com
