Andrew J. Straka Sr., 84, of Fairview Street, West Lawn, died March 9 in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since Feb. 27.
He was the husband of Arlene A. (Wysopal) Straka.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late John and Veronica (Lendacki) Straka.
Straka was employed for 42 years by Carpenter Technology Corp., retiring in 1982.
He was a 1937 graduate of Reading High School.
Straka was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield, where he served as an usher.
Straka was a life member of the Crusader Athletic Club, Reading.
He is also survived by a son, Andrew, West Lawn.
Other survivors include a brother, George, Shillington; and a sister, Rita Straka, Reading.
There are also two granddaughters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
