Andrew G. Antosy (Gerry), 83, was called by our Lord on July 5th 2014, at 3:40 p.m., with his loving wife Frances by his side.
Born August 28th, 1930, in Reading, Pennsylvania, he was son to Mary Dougherty and John Antosy. Andrew grew up in Reading, and graduated from Reading High School. After high school, Andrew enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Delaware with the 148th Air Squadron during the Korean War and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the service, Andrew fell in love and wed wife Frances Rush, on March 29th 1952. They were married for 62 years.
After his tour in the United States Air Force, Andrew returned to Reading to work for the family auto body business, eventually taking over to be the sole owner of the Antosy Body Shop. Andrew had many accomplishments in his lifetime which included being a member of the Auto Body Association, a member of the Oakbrook Fire Department, member of Victor Emmanuel's Association, and one of the founding members of the Mill Oak Pool. Andrew was also one of the members of the 148th Squadron Survivors.
Andrew was a devout Catholic at St. Anthony's Church. His devotion to the Lord led him to become a Eucharistic Minister for the church, giving prayers and communion at the parish and to the sick at the Reading Hospital. Andrew loved to be outside, and to tinker with his pond behind his home. Many times he was caught by Frances out either late at night or early in the morning making sure that the pond was in order. Andrew was a traveler and enjoyed his trips with Frances from Williamsburg to Maine, and as far away as Austria and Switzerland.
Andrew's spirit will be carried on by his wife Frances and children Andrew F. Antosy husband to Sue Antosy, Kathleen, wife to Ronald Linderman, Colleen wife to Thomas Kowalczyk, and Kevin Antosy who resides at home.
His laughter and love of chocolate will live on through his grandchildren, Christine, Jason, Adam, Scott, and Kyle, As well as his great grandchildren Tyler, Bradley, Lillyth, Magdalyn, and Corbin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, with entombment to follow at Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in Edward J.
