Amalia "Molly" Foley, 91, passed away at home on Thursday, September 7, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Edward L. Foley, Sr. with whom she shared 49 years of marriage before his passing in 2004.
Born in San Jose, Costa Rica, she was a daughter of the late Erving and Maria del Socorro Eskildsen. Amalia graduated Balboa High School in Panama before emigrating to the the United States with her husband, Ed, who was a serviceman in the U.S. Air Force.
Molly devoted herself to raising her six children. When her kids were still at home, she babysat many children in her home. Later she worked as a patient care assistant for Reading Hospital for almost two decades.
Left to cherish her memories are sons, Edward L. Foley, Jr. and Patrick Foley (Daisy) of Kenhorst; daughters Sharon Blimline (Mike) of Mohnton, Judy London (Edward) of North Port, FL, and Debra Defenderfer (Gregory) of Carlisle; seven grandchildren: Angie, Anthony, Eddie, Tommy, Robbie, Danny, and Chris; seven great grandchildren: Aidan, Avery, Cullen, Jaxon, Eddie III, Oliver, and Liana; and sister, Teresa, of Panama. In addition to her husband, Molly was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Jane Foley.
She loved her family dearly, and she dedicated her life to them. She was the fun and active mom/grandmom who really interacted with the children playing kickball, hiking, swimming, and playing games. In fact, she was voted "most athletic" as a high school senior for her participation in volleyball, basketball, and softball.
She was always talkative, energetic, and enthusiastic. She was extremely helpful and generous and assisted others without being asked. When she visited us, she stayed busy by doing whatever she could to help: washing dishes, doing laundry, painting, etc. She could strike up a conversation with anyone, and she did, everywhere we went. Sometimes we had to remind her that we were in a hurry. Our mom raised us with good morals and lots of love, and she was proud of who we grew up to be. She was our number one cheerleader, always encouraging us to try harder at whatever we did. Her favorite phrase was, "You can do it!" We were so blessed to have her on this Earth for almost 92 years!
