Allen Eugene Folk, 85, of Alsace Township died September 3, 2010 in Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Gloria Faust (Goodwin) Folk whom he married June 28, 1952.
Born February 19, 1925 in Reading, he was a son of the late James M. and Annie A. (Haines) Folk.
Allen was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was assigned to the Battery B, 489th Civil Affairs Battalion. He earned various medals, including, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and World War II Victory Medal.
Allen was employed as a lab technician with N.G.K., Temple for 31 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a lifetime member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Reading.
Surviving are two children: Kevin Lee Folk of ManorCare, Muhlenberg Township and DeLores Marie (Folk) Miller of Laureldale.
Other survivors include a brother, Donald K., husband of Margie (Schmehl) Folk of Bethel and two sisters, Shirley A. (Folk), widow of Robert Miller of Masonic Home, Elizabethtown and Dorothy C. (Folk), wife of Gerald Baum of Reading.
There are also two grandchildren and one great grandson surviving.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 1015 Windsor Street, Reading, PA 19604. A viewing will be held an hour prior to service in the church. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, Park Road North, 4 Park Plaza, Suite 105, Wyomissing, PA 19610 and/or Topton American Legion, Ray A. Master Post #217, 115 Centre Avenue, Topton, PA 19562.
