Allen W. Bates

Allen W. Bates, 41, died April 24, 2008 in his Ruscombmanor residence.

He was the husband of Marsha A. (Fritz) Bates, to whom he was married on September 10, 1994.

Born on May 20, 1966, he was the son of Brian R. Bates, Leesport and the late Judith A. (Reidinger) Bates.

Allen was a graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School in 1984.

He was most recently employed by Reading Tube and previously worked for NGK metals.

Allen loved hunting and fishing and was a member of the Pricetown Hunting Club; his favorite pastimes included photography, woodworking and restoring cars. Allen also enjoyed his weekends with his nieces, Mandy and Jenna.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his son, Troy Allen Bates, a senior at Oley Valley High School; and two sisters, Shari L. (Bates) Faller, Virginia Beach, VA and Cindy L. (Bates), wife of Barry Haring, Blandon.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
