Allan F. Epting

Allan F. Epting, 79, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in his Tilden Twp. residence. He and his wife Lela M. (Brown) would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on June 1.

He was born in Tilden Twp. to the late Lester F. and Myrtle V. (Fink) Epting. Allan was part of the Hamburg High School class of 1963. He served his country with honor during the Vietnam War as a United States Marine. He was an electrician by trade. From 1985 until his retirement in 2007, Allan worked with Met-Ed.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Hamburg.

"Doc" had the gift of being able to fix anything; if he could not fix something, then it simply was beyond repair. He was an avid train and Ford enthusiast and was well known for his jokes and sense of humor.

His memory will be treasured by his wife, Lela; their daughters, Julie R., wife of Christopher S. Strella, of Breinigsville, and Stacey L., wife of Victor Alvarado, of Mohrsville; grandchildren, Lauren Strella Wahba (wife of Andrew Wahba), Cody Strella, Dante Strella, Kady Alvarado, Colby Alvarado and Victor Lee Alvarado; and great grandchildren, Olivia, Alex, and Makenzie Wahba. He is also survived by his sister, Carole A., wife of James Gerner.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Clair, Vernon, and Wayne Epting, and his sisters, Anna Christ and Sarah Davis.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be offered to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, 40 S 4th St, Hamburg, with Military Honors and committal to follow at St. Michael's Union Cemetery. Viewings will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
