Aline J. Norman passed away Wednesday morning, December 1, 2010 at Berks Heim at the age of 101.
Born Aline Juliet Choquette on April 1, 1909, in the small farming community of Salix, Iowa, Aline always attributed her long life, her good health and her positive attitude to being born and raised on a farm. She had many stories to tell her children and grandchildren about her life in the 20's and 30's.
She married William Norman in 1935 and shortly afterwards moved with him to Reading. Bill preceded her in death. They are survived by four children: W. Lawrence, husband of Phyllis Norman, Hazelton; Jeannine P., wife of Dr. John E. Lewis, Canada; Bernard, Husband of Carol Lee Norman, Oley and Terrence W. Norman, Reading and by fifteen grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Aline, a life-long member of the Catholic Church, was active in the Legion of Mary, the Catholic Women's Club, Sacred Heart R.C. Church and other organizations.
For many years she did volunteer work in the community. Many of her activities involved music. She was a violinist in the Horizon Senior Citizens' Orchestra for thirty years, and sang in the West Lawn Seniors Chorus, entertaining groups all over Pennsylvania and beyond.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Berks Heim for the loving care and attention given to Aline.
She will always be lovingly remembered by family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Reading. A visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 in the Edward J.
