Alice Mae Sell

Alice Mae (Allwine) Sell of Spring Township, 90, passed away on November 17, 2021 at 4:50 pm, at the Berkshire Center in Reading, PA due to complications from recent health issues. She was the wife of the late Harold E. Sell whom she married August 10, 1952. They shared 56 wonderful years together.

Born in Lancaster, PA on February 5, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Daisy M. (Arment) and Elmer C. Allwine. Alice was a 1948 graduate of Manheim Township High School and she graduated from East Stroudsburg State Teachers College in 1952. She was employed by Governor Mifflin School District as a high school Health and Physical Education teacher where she coached many sports. Her field hockey teams won many Berks County titles.

Alice had many interests and hobbies. She loved bus trips and taking pictures on every trip. Alice was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, particularly the Phillies. She was a member of the West Lawn United Methodist Church. Alice was an accomplished seamstress and participated in many crafting groups. She also worked alongside her husband on many woodworking projects. They were most proud of their log home in Clinton County, PA.

Alice was the secretary of the Green Valley Ladies Bowling League for a number of years. She was also very active in the Green Valley Country Club Ladies Auxiliary. She will be missed by the many senior groups in Spring Township and West Lawn where she was a regular.

She is survived by her large and loving family; her children: Bradley A. (Kimberly W.) Sell of Raleigh, NC; Cheryl A. (Eric T.) Behrenshausen of Mount Holly Springs, PA, and Wendy L. (widow of David B.) Reinert of West Lawn, PA; her grandchildren: Megan L. Sell, Brian A. (Justine A.) Sell, Lindsay A. (Christopher W.) Hopkins, and Derek A. (Catharine A.) Behrenshausen; step grandsons, Erik S. Reinert and Justin D. Reinert; great granddaughter Adley Sell Hopkins and her half-brothers, Daniel M. Allwine of Ephrata, PA and David M. Allwine of Holly Springs, NC.

Alice was predeceased by her brother, Elmer C. Allwine Jr., and sisters, Shirley J. Rodabush and Eva L. Hossler.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, November, 22, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave West Reading, with interment to follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. The viewing will be held from 12:00pm to the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Ave, Reading, PA 19609.
