Alfred Weitkunat, 83, passed away May 1, 2011 in his Shillington residence.
He was the companion of Elizabeth B. Rothermel, Wyomissing. His wife, Nellie J. (Schwab) Weitkunat, died January 20, 1994.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late August and Franziska (Baranauzki) Weitkunat.
He was a graduate of Reading High School and The University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business.
Alfred worked for Wachovia Bank for over 10 years in the Trust Investment Department as the Senior Vice President. He also worked as an Investment Analyst for various investment advisors including J. L. Hain & Co. and Penn Square Mutual Fund.
He served on the board of Albright College and Reading Symphony Orchestra.
Alfred was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing, where he was a greeter and an usher. The Church and the congregation meant a great deal to him.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict.
Alfred will be remembered as a kind, caring, gentleman by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to Elizabeth, he is survived by his brother-in-law, Paul F. Deisher, Reading; his nephew, James J. Deisher, Reading and the Schwab family of Philadelphia.
A Memorial Service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be private in Charles Evans Cemetery.
