Alfred M. "Al" Bruce Jr.

Alfred M. “Al” Bruce, Jr., 83, of Spring Township, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Annapolis, Maryland, he was the son of the late Alfred M. Bruce, Sr., and Margaret H. (Collinson) Bruce.

Al spent many years in insurance claims and took pride in his work and the relationships he built. He enjoyed NASCAR, reading, sailing, and staying informed, but his greatest joy was his family—especially his grandchildren. He treasured every moment with them and with his wife and best friend, Hazel I. (Webster) Bruce, with whom he shared a life filled with love and lasting memories.

He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his quiet appreciation for life’s simple pleasures, and the special place he held in the hearts of those who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children—Alfred M. Bruce III (wife Amy), Elizabeth I. Hartz (companion Jack Ledbetter), and Cheryl A. “Cheri” Bruce-Phipps—his brother, Joseph F. Bruce, his grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, September, 25, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading, burial to follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.
