Alfred G. Dutt

Alfred G. Dutt, 71 of 3646 Chestnut Street, Muhlenberg Township, died January 2, at 1:31 p.m. in the emergency room at the Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Joan A. (Gardner). Born in Richmond Township, he was the son of the late Alfred M. and Helen E. (Bechtel) Dutt.

Dutt was employed for 30 years as a battery assembler by Exide Batteries, retiring in 1996.

He also was also employed at Agway in Temple, for 18 years and was a lifetime member of the Central Fire Company.

Dutt is also survived by three sons, Michael A., of Shillington; Randall G., of Reading; and James P., of Orlando, Florida.

Other survivors include a daughter, Kathleen J.(Dutt) Gallagher, of Laureldale; four brothers, Herbert, of Milton, Delaware; Stanley, of Laureldale; Donald, of Laureldale; Robert, of Bern Township; and a sister, Alice (Dutt) Price, of Riverview Park.

There are 8 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale. Rev. Jeffrey Raffauf officiating. Viewing Tuesday 12:30 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
