Alexis J. Zervanos, 87, of Spring Township, died June 30, 2011 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the husband of Seva J. (Joakim) Zervanos.

Born in Kos, Dodecanese, Greece, he was a son of the late James A. and Maria James (Stamatiades) Zervanos.

He was a graduate of West Reading High School in 1942, Albright College in 1949 and Georgetown Law School in 1954.

At West Reading High School during his senior year, Alexis was elected class President and selected outstanding Senior Boy at graduation. He was also a member of the varsity baseball, tennis and J.V. basketball team.

Alexis was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII. After basic training at camp at Wallace, TX, he was selected outstanding soldier of the battalion. He also received two battle stars in invasion of Biak & Noemfor.

He served as a law clerkship with Snyder, Balmer and Kershner Law Firm.

Alexis served as an elementary school teacher and principal in Twin Valley School District for 16 years.

In 1975 he returned to private practice in the Baer Building. In 1980 Alexis was appointed Assistant District Attorney.

Alexis was the owner of Zervanos Law Office, retiring in 2001.

He was a member of the Berks County Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association and was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court. He also was a member of Endlich Law Club and served as secretary, V.P. and President.

Alexis was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading where he was co-chairman of the building committee, V.P. in 1962, president in 1963 and served on the church council.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brother-in-laws, Nicholas Jack, Joakim, husband of Sophia Joakim; seven godchildren; ten nieces and nephews and seventeen grand-nieces and nephews.

Alexis was predeceased by two brothers, Manuel Zervanos and Hippocrates Zervanos.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Sts. Constantine and Helen Church, 1001 East Wyomissing Blvd., Reading, PA 19611. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the church. Contributions may be made to Sts. Constantine and Helen Church at the above address. Edward J.
