Alexander R. Gallagher, 86, of Wyomissing, went to Heaven on April 26, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the widower of Mollie G. (Perate) Gallagher to whom he was married for 58 years before her passing in January of 2011.
Born in Palo Alto, Pa, he was a son of the late Alexander and Theresa (Peifer) Gallagher.
He was very proud to be a veteran of the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.
Alex worked for over 30 years at Birdsboro Steel Corp. until their closing. He then worked at the Rose Corporation until his retirement in 1995.
He loved doing puzzles, taking walks, watching game shows and old movies. Alex was also an excellent artist.
Alex was a kind and gentle man who was loved by all who knew him. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his two daughters: Grace A., widow of John W. Kalina, Spring Township and Theresa L., wife of Matthew P. Logan, Winter Springs, FL. Three grandchildren: Megan Kalina-Delp, Michael Logan, Nicholas Logan and a great-grandson, Alexander J. Delp, survive him.
He was predeceased by four brothers: Thomas, James, William, and Mickey; and one sister: Theresa Lee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary R.C. Church, 237 Franklin St., Reading, PA 19602. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
