Alex Moretta, 100, of Reading, died September 27, 2015, in Berkshire Center.
He was the husband of the late Elizabeth H. (Parenti) Moretta whom died February 10, 2007.
Born in Reading he was the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Parzanese) Moretta. He was also predeceased by his step-mother Anna (Genetti) Moretta.
Alex worked for many years as a machinist for many companies, including; Karl Leibernecks, Boeing International, Wyomissing and American Chain and Cable. He retired in 1977.
He is survived by his daughter, Shirley M. (Kranis) wife of Gus Stevens, Wyomissing.
Other survivors include two sisters; Lillian Bonetti and Lena Pellegrino, and one brother John Pellegrino. Three grandchildren; Charles Deininger, husband of Amy, Juneau, Alaska; Albert DaDamio, Dallas, TX and Thomas DaDamio, husband of Kelly, Exeter Twp, and three great grandchildren; Dylan DaDamio, Jacqueline DaDamio and Jamie Deininger, and many nieces and nephews.
Alex was predeceased by one daughter; Jane V. (Kranis) Deininger and twelve siblings; Minnie O'Grattis, Christi Genetti, Betty Henry, Josephine Becker, Angelo Genetti, Phillip Genetti, Nicholas Genetti, Marie Hildebrand, Angie Berillo, Anna Belin, Anthony Pellegrino and Frank Pellegrino.
In his recent visit to America, Pope Francis stressed family, love, kindness and forgiveness and Alex lived his 100 years of life that way.
Services will be Thursday October 1, at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Friends may call one hour prior to the services from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton, PA.
