Alethia C. Yocom, 82, Laureldale, died July 2 in Manor Care, Laureldale, where she had been a patient for four days.

She was the wife of Harry E. Yocom, Jr.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late D. Walter and Margaret E. (Sutter) Krecker.

She was employed for six years as a secretary.

She was a 1941 graduate of Reading High School and later graduated from Helen Hoffman Moore Secretarial School. She also attended Albright College. Alethia graduated from the Hopewell School of Ministry in 1988.

She volunteered her time to CBN, and received an outstanding volunteer service award. She also volunteered for the Hopewell Church Food Bank for 20 years.

Alethia was a member of Hopewell Mennonite Church, Reading.

Also surviving are a daughter, Patricia A. (Yocom) wife of G. Jeffrey Winter, Suffern, N.Y. and a son, Daniel H. Yocom, PHD, husband of Amy P. (Rowe)Yocom Millersville.

There are also six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hopewell Mennonite Church, Sixth and Cherry Streets, Reading. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Greater Berks Co.
