Albert W. Spooner

Albert W. Spooner, 85 formerly of Hamburg and currently of the Topton Lutheran Home died in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar-Crest on January 13th. He was the husband of Elaine D. (George) Spooner of Topton. Albert was born in Leyton, England and was the son of the late Frederick and Doris Spooner. He was a member of the Royal Navy of England and served as a policeman in the suburbs of London before coming to the United States. Albert worked for Brandt Pattern Works, Bernville as a pattern maker, Textile Machine Works, Reading and last working as a self-employed truck driver for Morgan Driveaway retiring in 1995. Al was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg and a former member of the church choir. Additionally he was a member of the Reading Choral Society, and was a soloist for the Hamburg Community Choir at the Bicentennial Celebration. In addition to his wife, Albert is survived his sister, Anita Borrett, England and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 21st at 11:00 AM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc. 40 S. 4th Street, Hamburg. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial will be in Frieden's Cemetery, Lenhartsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 99 Church Street, Hamburg, PA 19526. Online condolences may be expressed at www.burkeydriscoll.com.
